So my question is - do mantras work for you?
I've had mixed feelings, but I feel like if it's what I need - they do. For me, the mantra has to to be simple - like easier than breathing.
The first mantra I used on purpose, was in healing my post traumatic stress. I had started counting. I could not stop counting. It was a decade after the transplant but nonetheless.... somehow counting made me feel connected to a universe to which I no longer actually felt attached. Weird I know.
Still I think we all experience this on some level, at some point. Just nod your head as you read this so I feel a little better. I mean we all have a least a moment where we just are not sure where we are in time and space.
So anyway, because I was so tired of counting I was given a phrase to say instead of holding onto the numbers. I did not think it was going to work, but I was game for anything. I cannot not remember the exact moment my soul moved forward and the phrase went away.
On rare occasions if I start counting - I immediately realize that I need a little self care.
So again, do mantras work for you? If you are not sure or you have never tried.... just listen to your own mind. They are already speaking to you more than likely.
